Producer BIO | James Boyle
James is a filmmaker and creative producer based in London, and the managing director of Park Road Pictures - his production banner creating thought-provoking, entertaining yet intelligent genre content for the international marketplace and global audiences.
He is currently packaging science-fiction feature OUTMODER, the debut from writer/director Azhur Saleem (selected for Film London’s Production Finance Micro Market in 2016).
His upcoming feature slate includes NOWHERE, a horror from writer/director Richard Higson and writer Keith Storrier (selected for Film London’s Production Finance Micro Market in 2015), and thriller THE SIREN, THE CAPTAIN, THE SEA, the debut from writer/director Mark J. Blackman which James is producing alongside Roxanne Holman/Joker’s Pack Productions
In development, he has the animated comedy series MEAT, from writer & editor Daniel Humphry, and thriller feature PROJECTOR, as well as the debut feature from music video and commercials director James Sharpe.
James is currently writing two features; supernatural thriller THE MIRROR CHILDREN and science-fiction picture CERN. He is also co-creator of the original graphic novel series THE MARIONETTE UNIT. Volume 1 was self-published by TMU Workshop (a studio set up by Saleem and Boyle) in 2016 to critical acclaim with Azhur and James now outlining Volume 2.
Content & line producer work includes commercials and branded content films for clients LACOSTÉ, W HOTELS, FORD, NBC, JWT, OGILVY amongst others and most recently, he delivered four films for CNN Create. Pitched, shot and completed over three months, these films (for clients UK DIT, KOREAN AIR and Japanese airline ANA) involved producing and managing shoots in 7 countries, with 5 production units that covered nearly 20 locations worldwide.
James has VFX produced a number of commercial and narrative projects for London-based Territory Studio who, continuing their working partnership, are now attached as the lead VFX vendor on sci-fi feature OUTMODER.
On upcoming animated short film PURE, he was development and line producer. This debut from Keed Animation Studio was set up by animators/writers/directors Eric Swymer and Chris Figat with James being responsible for organising & managing a virtual production environment with artists and crew in 10 different countries.
His short film THE FIND has played festivals including the Brussels Short Film Festival and the East End Film Festival, amongst others. Currently in worldwide distribution through Shorts International, it’s sold to over 17 territories with extensive sales on iTunes, DirectTV and ShortsTV. THE MARIONETTE UNIT won the 5e Grand Prix Européen Des Premiers Films at Festival Des Arts Visuels de Vevey. Commissioned by FORD, JWT DETROIT & FILMAKA from over 400 entries, short film AND THEN WE KISSED was selected to screen on NBC before the rebooted Knight Rider series.
One of thirteen producers selected for the London Film School’s Fast Forward Producing Mentorship; an intensive 6-month industry programme supporting the next generation of emerging British producers. An alumni of the NFTS’s shorts programme; trained by producers Angus Finney and Uzma Hasan in financing and drama production management. James was also an ‘escapee alumni’ of leading VFX school Escape Studios, trained in VFX Producing.
